There are a lot of people who are afraid of flying and consider it very dangerous. They think that every time when they fly the airplane, they will get into troubles. This causes a phobia – a phobia of flying. Technically flying from A to B is the safest way. Here are obvious examples for this statement:
Every minute in any city many accidents happen, and now while you are reading this article there are thousands of airplanes in the sky, and there is NO accident, and NOBODY is getting into troubles or lost his life. There are millions of people traveling around the world.
So, what is the secret behind this?
1. Well, the airplanes are designed in the redundancy system way, that is, if you have one system, this means that you have 2 or 3 back-up systems. For example, if we have the communication system failed, we have another communication system that will control and do all the tasks that other system was unable to do. So, in this case, the airplane will continue to fly normally.
2. Pilots go under many training, and these trainings teach them to focus more and deal with the problems of their daily aviation work. Each flight has at least 2 pilots in the cockpit that monitor each other and make cross-checking to avoid the mistakes. Before every flight, I always make sure that everything is just fine and safe for flying because I don’t want to put into a risk my own life. So if I’m safe, then you are safe too.
It’s Like A Chain
3. In general, flying has so many aspects, so many rules and regulations which are well monitored. Which way? When we fly to one city to another, we are controlled by the plan which we have; also the flight is controlled by air traffic control, the radar that monitors us. These all like a close monitoring loop: I’m monitoring my copilot, the airplane is monitoring the system, I’m monitoring the aircraft, the ATC is monitoring our flight. And it’s like a chain. If something is missing, then something is going to catch this in the chain.
Weather System in Aviation
4. This system in aviation is so accurate that before each flight we get the weather reports and we know where’s the thunderstorm on our way, so we avoid it and make the flight safe. The weather system in the airplane is so modern, so accurate that it can detect weather changes before 320 nautical miles and 1 nautical mile is equal to 1.8 km. So just imagine, 320 nautical miles ahead I already know that there are weather changes. This is simply very accurate.
Now, if you look at the statistics of how many people died from car accidents in a year, then you will find out that the chance of dying in a car crash is 1 in 114 whereas the chance of dying in an airplane crash is 1 in 9,821.
Let’s be honest, aviation now is so controlled, so monitored that brings safety in the highest level. Always be sure that the crew is very well trained and they are doing their best to fly the airplane to its destination safely because they also have families, friends, beloved ones whom they want to meet after the flight.
So, looking on these facts, we conclude that airplanes are the SAFEST means of transport, and these facts are here to help you to overcome your fear of flying.
FLY and enjoy your flights!
